Are you planning to start a blog?
Are you wondering how to create your first simple about me page?
Well, you’re in the right place.
Starting a blog was one of the best decisions I made in my life.
Not only did it help me develop my creativeness, but it also helped me develop my writing skills.
This happened to be one of the reasons why I landed so many different high-paying jobs.
Blogging also helped me get to know other bloggers and develop my networking skills.
Because, truthfully, I’m an introvert, which makes me hate making the first step and get to know someone.
But blogging helped me get over that, surpass some of my weaknesses which is so freaking great.
But the journey wasn’t easy for success.
To be completely honest, blogging isn’t easy.
It has been so hard for me as a beginner, especially in terms of raising traffic.
So, I had a blogger reach out to me once and ask me “did you try to update your simple about me page to get more traffic”?
And that’s when it dawned on me…
My about me page was important.
I immediately went back to my blog and re-read all of my about me page and that’s when I found out, that it wasn’t so good.
So, I updated it, and one month later, my traffic increase, and so did my engagement.
Now, I know a lot of you will be asking what does the “about me” page has anything to do with traffic?
And the answer is simple, your “about me” page is the mirror to your blog.
To raise traffic your audience needs to trust you and to trust you your brand needs to be more natural and more trustworthy.
And that’s where the “about me” page’s role comes in.
Your “about me” page represents your blog as a whole. And if it’s good, so will be your blog.
But… To be honest, updating my “about me” page wasn’t the easiest task.
Writing a simple about me page isn’t as easy as you might think. Especially if you’re a new blogger.
So, that is why I’m writing this blog post.

What’s an About Me Page?
An about me page is just like the name indicates. It’s ALL ABOUT YOU.
You, yourself and you. It’s your moment of shine.
And that’s why it should be as authentic and as credible as possible.
So, that’s why I’ll be sharing my best tips on how to write an amazing “about me” page.
Just so you can see the progress, I’ve included what my first “about me” page looked like, and included what my current one looks like as well.
The old one
VS The new one
On my first one, I’ve introduced myself, what I do as a living, and so on.
I also specified the purpose of my first blog and how I plan to help people with it.
I’ve detailed everything about myself and tried to be as honest as possible.
Now, here’s what my current “about me” page looks like…
We love progress, don’t we?
Now as you see, the first thing I started it with is my name which works as an ice breaker and helps me become closer with my readers.
Then I used a little bit of humor to give my readers an idea about the real me.
Then I talked a little bit about my blog and how it would help them.
All of these things were included in my first simple about me page, but it just didn’t seem “right”.
Now it does.
This progress didn’t come easily.
I mean, I had to some quite intensive research in order to update my “about me” page.
And thank god they’ve helped.
So, here’s what I learned fro my research.
How to Write a Simple About Me page
Start with your name.
Starting your “about me” page with your name means you plan on becoming close with your audience and wants them to get to know the real you.
Now I know this doesn’t come off as a surprise but Oumaima isn’t a popular name.
It’s actually very rare and I bet you’ve never heard of it before.
And that’s why I love it. Having a rare name means it’s easily remembered as well.
This means that every time someone comes across “Oumaima”, my blog’s name will pop up in their head.
Get Into Details
Another thing to do is to tell your readers more about yourself.
They need to get to know you and see if you’ve got experience or not.
For experienced bloggers, this can come off easy and natural, but if you’re a new blogger, then “oh sh*t”…
If you’re a new blogger that doesn’t have much experience, then you can just tell your story.
And that’s what I did when I began blogging.
I spoke about my studies, my skills, why I started my blog and how I love blogging.
If you’re relatable, then you’ll immediately have more chances in increasing your traffic.
Connecting with your audience is really important for your blog. It makes you look more natural and authentic.
Now, although I said that the “About me” page is all about you, a little bit about your audience won’t hurt.
I mean, after all, your blog is all about your audience, so, including a paragraph or two about them can only seem natural to do.
“But what if I don’t have a niche set yet?”
Even if you’re new and haven’t decided on a niche yet, there’s always room for guessing.
If you love to travel, then there’s a high chance your niche will be travel.
If that’s the case, then you can easily include them by telling them on your page by letting them know how you’ll help them.
If that’s not something you can do, then I’ve got another trick for you.
You can simply spill the tea and share your struggle with them in its most truthful form.
You can speak about your blogging struggle, studying struggle, pregnancy struggle or you name it.
An example of that is Elna.
She obviously states her struggle with pregnancy but the beautiful outcome of it which is two beautiful twins.
If that’s not something you can do as well, then how about this:
- You can share some fun facts with your readers.
Fun facts about yourself can easily be relatable and make you look more fun.
So, to help you out, I’m going to list some fun facts about me:
I LOOOOOOOOOVE cats, cooking, and watching animes!
I love hearing scary stories even though I get scared at night, and I’m very paranoid.
I’m a stress-case that gets worked up on the smallest of things.
And I know I’m going to be judged for these things.
Now those are some fun facts about me, what about you? Share them in the comments!
Include A CTA
And finally, you need to push your readers to do an action on your blog.
Or as we call it, a call-to-action.
A lot of bloggers, and I really mean A LOT of bloggers have opt-in at the end of their “about me” page.
The opt-ins can be anything from a newsletter to a button to hire them or collaborate with them.
Some other shares their courses of how they can help people so that they can sell it to interested readers.
Some suggest ebooks and god knows what.
I don’t have any of the above besides an email list & freebies because so far, I’m only interested in building my newsletter.
